In the culmination of this four-part series, participants will interact with a panel of forestry professionals. Questions can be asked live, as well as submitted ahead of time, during this interactive panel session.

CFEs
Upon successful completion of this webinar, you will earn 1.5 CFEs in Category 1. CFEs will automatically be added to your CFE record located on www.eforester.org.
Certificate
Upon successful completion of this webinar and the evaluation, participants may download and print a certificate verifying completion of the webinar and earning CFEs. CFEs will be uploaded to participant CFE records by the end of the day (11:59 pm ET).

Ian earned a degree in Forest Management with a minor in Spatial Information Management Systems from Colorado State University in 2001. He has 25 years of private sector experience in technology, data, and software applied to forestry, urban forestry, water resources, ecosystem services, and arboriculture. At PlanIT Geo, Ian leads the company vision, Mapping the World's Urban Forests for a Greener Future, including the direction of the TreePlotter Software suite and consulting services. He lives in Colorado with his wife, two children, and two dogs where he has summited all 54 mountains above 14,000 feet.

Tom Kain

Tom has been an SAF member since 1992. He earned my BS in Forestry and an MS in Natural Resources from Cal-Poly Humboldt in 1995 and 1996 respectively. Tom has worked in both the land management and wood procurement areas of forestry. His career started on the West Coast, but he has lived and worked in Eastern Tennessee for the past 18 years. Tom was the Tennessee Tree Farm Chair from 2007 through 2008, the Tennessee SFI SIC Chair from 2014-2017, KT Vice-Chair in 2018, KT chair in 2019, KT Policy Chair for 2020, and the E6 Sustainability and Certification Community of Interest Vice-Chair in 2022. In his current role for the Forest Stewardship Council US, he assists the forest management certificate holders in the US.

John Snow
Senior Urban and Community Forester

John Snow is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, qualified Tree Risk Assessor, and one of the first Certified Urban and Community Foresters (CUCF). John also serves as President of the Florida Urban Forestry Council and sits on ISA’s Florida Chapter Government Affairs Committee. He brings a unique, data-driven perspective that treats trees as vital community assets requiring thoughtful, long-term planning. His work goes beyond tree care, encompassing roles as an urban forestry policymaker, educator, and environmental steward.

Kristen Waring
Professor and Associate Director of the School of Forestry
Northern Arizona University
Dr. Kristen Waring is a Professor of Silviculture and Applied Forest Health and Associate Director in the School of Forestry at Northern Arizona University (NAU). She specializes in utilizing silviculture to mitigate challenging and complex forest health problems, often through interdisciplinary research and collaborations. Her research and teaching activities span western North America (U.S., Canada and Mexico), Costa Rica, Europe, and Indonesia.
