Dr. Tamara Cushing is an Extension Forest Business Specialist at the University of Florida. Her expertise is in forest finance with an emphasis on taxation and succession planning and she works with private landowners and their advisors to provide information needed to make decisions related to forest management. Dr. Cushing holds a forestry degree from the University of Florida, two Master’s degrees – one in Forest Economics and one in Taxation from Mississippi State University, and a PhD from the University of Georgia in Forest Finance. Prior to joining UF in 2021, Dr. Cushing was on the faculty at Kentucky, Clemson and Oregon State and worked for F&W Forestry. Dr. Cushing is an SAF Fellow and served as the 2020 SAF President.

Dr. Kristen Waring is a Professor of Silviculture and Applied Forest Health and Associate Director in the School of Forestry at Northern Arizona University (NAU). She specializes in utilizing silviculture to mitigate challenging and complex forest health problems, often through interdisciplinary research and collaborations. Her research and teaching activities span western North America (U.S., Canada and Mexico), Costa Rica, Europe, and Indonesia.

Danielle Watson manages American Forests’ climate policy portfolio, focusing on programs, policies, and funding that empowers those who steward state, private, and Tribal lands. As part of the Policy and Partnerships team, she also supports policy and government relations needs for the Tree Equity and Resilient Forests programs. Prior to joining American Forests, Watson worked for over a decade in the forest policy arena with the Society of American Foresters and led its efforts to cultivate and convene stakeholders around pressing issues facing forests and forestry professionals. Watson holds a juris doctor from Vermont Law School and a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University.

James Westfall

James Westfall is a Research Forester for the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program at the USFS Northern Research Station and also is the leader of the National Inventory and Monitoring Applications Center. His work primarily focuses on sampling, estimation, and modeling research, as well as providing technical expertise on forest inventory from local to international extent. He has served as an author or reviewer of 200+ publications.

Dr. Marcella Windmuller-Campione received her B.S. and M.S. in Forestry from Michigan Technological University and PhD in Ecology from Utah State. She has been at the University of Minnesota since 2015 where she specializes in teaching, research, and extension related to silviculture and applied forest ecology where she advising undergraduate and graduate students.
