This webinar is intended for professionals who are interested in the process of how revisions are made to the FSC Forest Stewardship Standard. We will learn from Amy Clarke Eagle, the director for science and certification for FSC US, how the standard development process works, the changes in the newly revised FSC US Forest Stewardship Standard (FSS), and who was involved in the process.

Learning objectives
Upon successful completion of this webinar, you will be able to:
1. Describe the process and time frame for revising the FSC Forest Stewardship Standard (FSS).
2. Identify the key changes between the existing FSS standard and the revised FSS standard.
3. Define the ways in which members, certificate holders, and stakeholders are involved throughout the process.

Amy Clarke Eagle
Director of Science and Certification
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
Amy joined the Forest Stewardship Council US in 2016 as the Director of Science and Certification. In this role she leads the FSC team dedicated to development and application of FSC policies and standards in the United States, including the FSC US Forest Management Standard and FSC Controlled Wood US National Risk Assessment. Amy spent much of the previous 19 years collaborating with government and non-government partners to develop and implement landscape-scale conservation and management plans within managed forests. Prior to joining FSC, Amy served as Biodiversity and Conservation Program Leader for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ (MDNR) Forest Resources Division, where one of her primary responsibilities was working to ensure that the MDNR maintained FSC forest management certification for 4 Million acres of state-administered forest lands. Amy is a graduate of Amherst College and earned her M.S. in Wildlife Science at the University of Washington-Seattle’s College of Forest Resources.

Tom has been an SAF member since 1992. He earned my BS in Forestry and an MS in Natural Resources from Cal-Poly Humboldt in 1995 and 1996 respectively. Tom has worked in both the land management and wood procurement areas of forestry. His career started on the West Coast, but he has lived and worked in Eastern Tennessee for the past 18 years. Tom was the Tennessee Tree Farm Chair from 2007 through 2008, the Tennessee SFI SIC Chair from 2014-2017, KT Vice-Chair in 2018, KT chair in 2019, KT Policy Chair for 2020, and the E6 Sustainability and Certification Community of Interest Vice-Chair in 2022. In his current role for the Forest Stewardship Council US, he assists the forest management certificate holders in the US.
