Webinar information
Under the Four Forest Restoration Initiative (4FRI), the USDA Forest Service has activity collaborated with various partners to develop innovative approaches for accelerating the pace and scale of forest restoration work. This webinar will focus on one of these approaches, known as tablet marking or DxP Plus, whereby trees to be left or cut are designated on a tablet or computer screen rather than with tree marking paint. During the webinar, the speaker will highlight the motivation for developing tablet marking, provide an overview of the process, and compare silvicultural outcomes derived from tablet marking to those derived from traditional leave tree marking (LTM) or designation by prescription (DxP). The speaker will also compare productivity rates across the different methods of designation, discuss lessons learned, and describe how aerial and/or mobile ground-based Lidar may be incorporated to improve the achievement of silvicultural objectives.
