Webinar information
The Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) was developed by the US Air Force Research Lab and subsequently adopted as the primary tool used by all branches of the US Military to help improve situational awareness in tactical environments. ATAK is now openly available for public use and provides several powerful capabilities for foresters, loggers and fire managers integrating spatial data and real-time location-sharing technologies. As part of the Pacific Northwest Ag Safety and Health Center (PNASH), University of Idaho researchers are evaluating and developing new applications of smartwatches and real-time mapping solutions for forestry and logging. We will provide a general, instructional overview and tutorial on use of the ATAK app with commercially-available technologies to integrate real-time spatial data that provides logging equipment operators, ground-workers and foresters with a common operating picture for active operations.
