This 1.5-hour virtual panel discussion serves as the culmination of the 9-part webinar series focused on the 2020 Resources Planning Act Assessment. Each previous webinar focused on the status, trends, and projected futures of a specific renewable resource. In this webinar, Federal and non-Federal users of the RPA Assessment will be discussing the benefits of this Assessment, how it has been applied in land management and policy decision-making, and how they think the RPA Assessment should evolve to continue to provide critical information to decision makers.

Learning objectives
Upon successful completion of viewing this recording, you will be able to:
1. Explain the value of the RPA Assessment to practitioners.
2. Identify ways that the RPA Assessment has informed decision making.
3. Provide feedback to the Forest Service about desired elements from future RPA Assessments.
Rubric
Successful completion of this learning product is measured by viewing the entire webinar and completing the evaluation.
Evaluation
Participant feedback is appreciated to help us continually improve ForestEd offerings for future programming. Evaluations must be completed to receive CFEs.
CFEs
Upon successful completion of this learning product, you will earn 1.5 CFEs in Category 1. CFEs will automatically be added to your CFE record located on www.eforester.org by the end of the day (11:59 pm ET).
Certificate
Upon successful completion of the webinar and filling out its evaluation, participants may download and print a certificate verifying completion of this learning product and earning SAF CFEs.

Bryan Petit
Vice President for Policy and Regulatory Affairs
National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO)
Bryan Petit is NAFO’s Vice President for Policy and Regulatory Affairs. With a background in both forestry and natural resources policy-making, he leads the development and execution of policy, regulatory, and legal strategies for NAFO. Prior to NAFO, Bryan spent 11 years as the Senior Professional Staff Member on the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, overseeing the forestry and wildland fire portfolios. In that position, he was instrumental in the creation and enactment of the last decade’s most important pieces of forestry-related legislation. Before working in Congress, he served as a career staffer in the Office of the Secretary at USDA, advising policy officials on matters pertaining to natural resources and the environment. Prior to coming to DC, Bryan worked as a field forester in various positions across 8 States, including as a wildland firefighter. Born and raised in Louisiana, Bryan is a forester by training—having earned an undergraduate degree in forestry in North Carolina and later graduated with a Master of Forestry from Yale University.
Steve Prisley
Principal Research Scientist
National Council for Air and Stream Improvement
Dr. Steve Prisley is a Principal Research Scientist at the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement (NCASI). Steve conducts and leads research and technical support in the areas of forest biometrics and economics, currently focused on forest carbon measurement, monitoring, and reporting. Prior to joining NCASI, Steve was Professor of Forest Inventory and GIS at the Virginia Tech Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation, and directed the Center for Natural Resources Assessment and Decision Support. Steve has over 13 years of experience in the forest products industry. For several decades, Steve has worked closely with data and scientists from the US Forest Service’s Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program, using their data in forest carbon assessments and inventory projections.
Charlie Truettner
Senior Manager of Climate Science
American Forests
Charlie is a passionate climate scientist and forest ecologist that has worked in multiple ecosystems throughout the world studying the effects of climate change on forest and desert species. His experience and interests span from spatial analysis to isotope geochemistry, and he specifically specializes in desertification at the forest-desert interface in western North America. Charlie earned is Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno and his M.Sc. in Quaternary Science at Northern Arizona University.

Laura's career in forestry spans 20 years. She began her work internationally in Latin America before settling in the southeast. She spent 10 years in various leadership roles at the U.S. Forest Service before launching her consulting practice focused on collaborative conservation. She has been engaged in Keeping Forests since its inception in 2016. Keeping Forests focuses on expanding markets for the private landowners who steward this important resource.
