Northern Conifer Research in the Northeast: Multiple Species and Multiple Values
Studies of northern conifer (spruce-fir) ecology and silviculture have been conducted by the U.S. Forest Service on the Penobscot Experimental Forest in Maine since 1950. Long-term perspective, consistent treatment application, and frequent data collection result in an unusually robust assessment of the outcomes of silvicultural treatments and exploitative harvests.
