Evaluating Effectiveness of Multi-purpose Fuel Treatments in Western Mixed Conifer Forests
We developed nine fuel treatment scenarios from silviculture prescriptions written by managers. Using the BioSum framework, we evaluated treatment outcomes and treatment longevity. We learned that treatments were most effective, favored single- or two-storied stands. Treatment longevity varied from 10- to 30-years depending on abundance of fire resistant species.
