About Us
The Forest History Society and You
As a forester, you know that what has happened before on the land affects what may happen there in the future. At the Forest History Society, we believe that by understanding our past, we shape our future. To do understand our past requires someone to preserve, protect, and share our forest history. Through our programs, publications, and other efforts, we help people around the world understand their past, and that of the land they manage, so that we may all have a better future.
Our Mission
The Forest History Society is a nonprofit library and archive dedicated to preserving and helping people use the documents of forest history. FHS identifies, collects, interprets, and disseminates historical information on the relationship of humans and forests, contributing to informed natural resource decision-making.
